SF Bay Area Spring 2018 Action in Oakland CA To End the Wars at Home and Abroad

In the aftermath of President Trump’s rash and reckless launching of missiles on Syria in some illogical and illegal display of brute destructive power, there was a call by a broad coalition of anti-war groups to rally in various cities in the USA and around the world. The theme on the Bay Area notice I heeded said “End the Wars at Home & Abroad”, and that’s the link to reports from various locations gathered in one place.

This blog will have a mix of photos that I took at the colorful and spirited Anti-War march on April 15, 2018 in Oakland, CA, and some screenshots from the 3 minute video I made called Salute to the Spring 2018 Oakland Anti-War Rally Participants”.

Lake Merritt made a beautiful natural back-drop to the stage as you can see in the photos. The speaker above is Pierre Labossiere of the Haiti Action Committee. International Solidarity Against War was a theme I appreciated among the speakers. The event began at 11 am with a gathering of the crowd at the Amphitheater on Lake Merritt. It was sunny and festive and something of a grand re-union of veteran peace and justice activists from throughout the SF Bay Area mixed with a new wave of youthful anti-war demonstrators. I certainly enjoyed chatting with the kindred spirits I’ve come to know since moving from Delaware and planting my roots here in 2008.  At 11:30 am speakers and music began to be presented.

Lucky for me that I got a photo and video clip of myself by Gypsy Taub. I returned the favor by taking photos of her and her kids. I was heeding the 911TAP (9/11 Truth Action Project) call that was posted by IAmTheFaceOfTruth Facebook 9/11 Truth visibility group to demonstrate and communicate 9/11 Truth at these Spring 2018 Anti-War Marches. I was also heeding the call by this local San Francisco Bay Area Anti-War Coalition that was posted on Facebook. There are lots of links from other partiicpants posted there since the event.

One thing that motivated me and hundreds of thousands of other people of conscience to get out to the Spring 2018 Anti-War Action was that Trump had just bombed Syria without consulting the US Congress or waiting for evidence from an investigation. He put himself on shaky Constitutional grounds there. But the Democrats seem to want war too. And they would rather talk about Russia-gate and Stormy Daniels and Trump Tweets… They will talk about anything but how Obama continued Bush policies and how Hillary Clinton could lose to a chump like Trump by seeming to be the greater of two evils as the pro-war candidate.

The last time Trump bombed Syria after the last false flag chemical attack one year earlier, he did so under pressure from Israel and the NeoCons and NeoLiberals occupying the swamp of corruption that is the US Congress in the District of Columbia. This demo took place a couple days after IDF snipers had murdered unarmed protesters in the Gaza strip of occupied Palestine for calling for an end to the Apartheid occupation and for recognition of their right to return to their lands in Palestine. The war on Yemen by Saudi Arabia with US-Israel support was also addressed. Likewise Trump’s bellicose threats toward Iran and North Korea, and the seemingly endless war on Afghanistan where the black market of poppy fields and vast mineral resources are the plunder.

Video of Berkeley Peace Symbol Event Posted to YouTube as Public Access HD

The Berkeley “Ban the Bomb!” Video is out! The 2nd Edition of the Berkeley Peace Symbol commemoration has lots of cool special effects! Slightly re-titled, you can find it listed as “Berkeley Celebrates the 59th Birthday of the Peace Symbol” at the YouTube channel called “SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE HEART OF BERKELEY”.

The Sound and Recording Audio work in Fellowship Hall was by David Yandle. Post Production Audio & Video work was contributed by Vic Sadot. Now it’s posted to the internet! We need YOU to help us get this information and these links distributed! Note: Every photo on this page is linked to another related site full of information or music.

This video is 58 minutes in length and it will be set for Creative Commons free download so that it can be used in a non-profit manner by activists to schedule it on their local Public Access Cable TV stations. It is indeed educational in that it deals with a subject avoided by the corporate media, the hugely profitable and extremely dangerous nuclear arms race. Born out of fear of nuclear mass destruction, the Peace Symbol has become an essential part of our Peace Movement. How was it created? Who did it? What was the moment of historical context in which this now well-known symbol was created?
gerald-herbert-holton_21feb1958-design_nuclear-disarmament_berkeley_59th_birthday_of_peace-symbol
It was Gerald Herbert Holten who created the Peace Symbol using navy semaphore flag signals as the basis for the design. The Peace Symbol was first used on February 21, 1958 in support of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in a march of 10,000 people from London to Aldermaston. Gerald Holten had been a conscientious objector during World War II. He was a graduate of the Royal College of Art.

Poet Arnie Passman and the Social Justice Committee of the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists invited poets, singer-songwriters, and comedians to celebrate the 59th Birthday of the Peace Symbol! The history of the birth of the “Band the Bomb” movement in the UK and the need for the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to be pressed forward are discussed.
hiroshima-ground-zero_us-army_berkeley-celebrates-peace_vic-sadotThe Berkeley Celebration of the 59th Birthday of the Peace Symbol was on “Presidents’ Day”, Monday, Feb 20, 2017. Veteran BFUU Social Justice Committee activist Cynthia Jean Johnson welcomed the small audience who came to Fellowship Hall on that rainy day.

The obligations of signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and the need for all nuclear countries to sign and participate, are explained in this video.
mordechai-vanunu_berkeley-celebrates-peace-symbol_vic-sadotThe gathering was fortunate to have a formidable poet like Frances L. Hillyard. Frances contributed several thought and emotion provoking poems, including poems about The Statue of Liberty; the view of a woman suffering the violence and turmoil in the city of Jenin in Palestine; a revolutionary salute to Mumia Abu Jamal; and the charming and hopeful “Dove of Light”. A separate 10 minute video of her performance has been posted!

The group has protest rallies outside the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco at 3 pm on the 11th of every month since the nuclear catastrophe first happened on March 11, 2011. Since March 11, 2017 will be the 6th anniversary of the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history there should be a larger than usual turn-out. What’s more is that the emergency is an ongoing radioactive disaster that continues to contaminate land, air, and sea, and continues to threaten all living creatures that depend on these elements of nature for sustenance.

Ahmed Alomary manages to capture the beauty in the city and countryside around Jenin. But the Zionist expansion is constantly pressing into their territories with colonizers who are euphemistically called “settlers”. And the IDF is always nearby to enforce “The Law In These Parts” (An Israeli film that was screened at the annual Jewish Film Festival in Berkeley, California).

Trump’s “Muslim Ban”Analyzed by Alison Weir, President of the Council for the National Interest

Trump’s “Muslim Ban”: Israeli Strategic Plans to “Remake the Middle East”, from 2001 and before, Targeted the Same Countries by Alison Weir, Founder/Director of IfAmericansKnewOrg, President of the Council for the National Interest, and author of “Against Our Better Judgment”. Posted February 13, 2017.

Photo: Syrian Survivors of Western War of Terror on Muslims

President Trump has issued an executive order suspending entry to the U.S for people from Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, and Yemen (the order is called “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States”). These same countries were the focus of the “Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015” under President Obama.

While reports on Trump’s ban emphasize that these are Muslim majority countries, analysts seem to have ignored another significant characteristic that these countries share.

With just a single exception, all of these countries were targeted for attack by certain top U.S. officials in 2001. In fact, that policy had roots that went back to 1996, 1991, 1980, and even the 1950s. Below, we will trace this policy back in time and examine its goals and proponents.

The fact is that Trump’s action continues policies influenced by people working on behalf of a foreign country, whose goal has been to destabilize and reshape an entire region. This kind of aggressive interventionism focused on “regime change” launches cascading effects that include escalating violence.

How to UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS!

Right here at the beginning of the Puppet Trump Administration All Trump supporters should test Trump’s loyalty to them. Let me explain how to do it. It’s called UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS!

The Trumpeteers really need to demand that our Bill of Rights be restored, that all Anti-Constitutional martial law powers passed by Puppet Obama to Puppet Trump be rescinded by President Trump now! They should abandon the Trump regime and all other traitors to the Constitution of the United States if they do not act immediately and decisively to restore the Republic and the Constitution of the United States. Puppet Prez Obama has passed on some draconian legal claims to Puppet Prez Trump. This is a review of several specific violations done in the name of “security”. We must UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS!

Listen to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr!  “Obama Creates Propaganda Ministry; Now Trump Owns It” (7:21) The Ring of Fire hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
trump-obama_la-times-crop_20161110

Note Published with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. video on Jan 27, 2017: “Just before the Christmas holiday, former President Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act which provides funding for the military. Buried inside the NDAA was another bill that officially establishes an anti-propaganda center in order for the State Department to recognize, understand and expose counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining the United States. They really said that. Mike Papantonio, host of America’s Lawyer, discusses this with Richard Eskow, host of The Zero Hour.”

Similarly, all of us American citizens should exercise our inalienable rights to voice our grievance against Puppet President Obama for signing police state laws in bills that should only be about monetary matters. They should not include clauses that claim Executive powers to use the U.S. military for imprisonment called indefinite detentions (BORDC) and executions of American citizens without any due process.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. mentions how Obama earlier, with the sweep of a pen, signed an NDAA that repealed the 1949 Smith-Mundt Act that forbade the US government to use psychological operations and propaganda on the American People.

The Two War Parties need to start taking orders from the American People! Break out of the Two Party Matrix Mind Trap! UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS! Defend EVERYONE’S RIGHTS! Or lose them… For more specific information and videos about the deliberate misuse of the annual NDAA military funding bills to claim Anti-Constitutional powers, and to join efforts with other people who are working to reject and rescind such illegal power claims, visit BORDC (The Bill of Rights Defense Committee)! Did Michael Hasting die trying to warn you about your loss of your rights through NDAA clauses in the annual military budget bill? That’s an odd way to pass Unconstitutional “laws”! See: “Domestic Propaganda Ban to be Lifted?” (9:32) Published on May 24, 2012 at The Alyona Show on RT. “Last week, the House passed the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, which contains an amendment that would repeal the Smith-Mundt Act: a 1948 law that prevents the U.S. government from distributing propaganda at home. Alyona discusses the proposed provision with Michael Hastings, who broke the story. What is the significance of the amendment when the line between propaganda, and public relations has become increasingly blurred?” Hastings died in a bizarre car crash in California before he got to publish more exposes.

Amazon has this about the new book:

MARTIN LUTHER KING SURVIVED SHOOTING, WAS MURDERED IN HOSPITAL: AN INTERVIEW WITH WILLIAM PEPPER

Bestselling author, James Earl Ray’s defense attorney, and, later, lawyer for the King family William Pepper reveals who actually killed MLK.

William Pepper was James Earl Ray’s lawyer in the trial for the murder of Martin Luther King Jr., and even after Ray’s conviction and death, Pepper continues to adamantly argue Ray’s innocence. This myth-shattering exposé is a revised, updated, and heavily expanded volume of Pepper’s original bestselling and critically acclaimed book Orders to Kill, with twenty-six years of additional research included. The result reveals dramatic new details of the night of the murder, the trial, and why Ray was chosen to take the fall for an evil conspiracy—a government-sanctioned assassination of our nation’s greatest leader. The plan, according to Pepper, was for a team of United States Army Special Forces snipers to kill King, but just as they were taking aim, a backup civilian assassin pulled the trigger.

In The Plot to Kill King, Pepper shares the evidence and testimonies that prove that Ray was a fall guy chosen by those who viewed King as a dangerous revolutionary. His findings make the book one of the most important of our time—the uncensored story of the murder of an American hero that contains disturbing revelations about the obscure inner-workings of our government and how it continues, even today, to obscure the truth.

BERKELEY CALLING BLOG: Buffalo Roadshow Report! Inspiring, deep, awesome!

The Buffalo Field Campaign Roadshow brought co-founder Mike Meese to Fellowship Hall in Berkeley, CA along with event organizers Karen Pickett of Earth First! and Vic Sadot of the BFUU Social Justice Committee.

Musically, the 2016 BFC Roadshow featured two acts: Mignon Geli and Karaj Lost-Coast. Karaj Lost-Coast opened with a charming original composition to guitar called “Headlands”. It is a reflective patchwork of memoirs beginning with how odd it seemed to have wild bison in Golden Gate Park in the heart of San Francisco.

The headliner was Mignon Geli on the Native American flute. Mignon gave an articulate and heartfelt explanation of the roots of each song, be it original or traditional or experimental, such as “Native Blues”, “Stampede”, or songs from the Nisenan tribe of the Nevada and California hills.

As a long-time lover of ballads and broadsides, I love the way some people like Phil Ochs, Buffie Sainte-Marie, Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Joan Baez, Patrick Sky, Peter La Farge Patrick Sky -The Ballad of Ira Hayes (Peter La Farge) and countless others, so effectively set up their song for delivery. It’s a talent that Mignon Geli has, in addition to her soulful instrumental talents. Matter of factly, she’s been heard to say: “The Black Hills are NOT for sale!” See her BlackHillsAreNotForSale.org biographical link below if you like these performances and if this multi-dimensional cause strikes a chord with you!

After Vic Sadot, an activist with the Social Justice Committee does a welcoming and promotion of upcoming SJC October 2016 events, Karen Pickett takes the stage to explain the vision and modus operandi of the Buffalo Field Campaign.

The Buffalo Field Campaign “Roadshow” came rolling through the SF Bay Area with founder Mike Mease presenting his stories and videos from years of engaging this project to protect and preserve the wild buffalo and the environment we all need to survive and thrive. Part of Mike’s talk was captured to a cell phone video, which is posted to this “Social Justice in the Heart of Berkeley” YouTube channel.

Although Goodshield Aguilar was not on this 2016 tour, his music and spirit are most definitely are a big part of this sound. See the several links below to know the work of this soulful musician, Mignon Geli!
