The Sound and Recording Audio work in Fellowship Hall was by David Yandle. Post Production Audio & Video work was contributed by Vic Sadot. Now it’s posted to the internet! We need YOU to help us get this information and these links distributed! Note: Every photo on this page is linked to another related site full of information or music.

This video is 58 minutes in length and it will be set for Creative Commons free download so that it can be used in a non-profit manner by activists to schedule it on their local Public Access Cable TV stations. It is indeed educational in that it deals with a subject avoided by the corporate media, the hugely profitable and extremely dangerous nuclear arms race. Born out of fear of nuclear mass destruction, the Peace Symbol has become an essential part of our Peace Movement. How was it created? Who did it? What was the moment of historical context in which this now well-known symbol was created?
gerald-herbert-holton_21feb1958-design_nuclear-disarmament_berkeley_59th_birthday_of_peace-symbol
It was Gerald Herbert Holten who created the Peace Symbol using navy semaphore flag signals as the basis for the design. The Peace Symbol was first used on February 21, 1958 in support of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in a march of 10,000 people from London to Aldermaston. Gerald Holten had been a conscientious objector during World War II. He was a graduate of the Royal College of Art.

Poet Arnie Passman and the Social Justice Committee of the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists invited poets, singer-songwriters, and comedians to celebrate the 59th Birthday of the Peace Symbol! The history of the birth of the “Band the Bomb” movement in the UK and the need for the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to be pressed forward are discussed.
hiroshima-ground-zero_us-army_berkeley-celebrates-peace_vic-sadotThe Berkeley Celebration of the 59th Birthday of the Peace Symbol was on “Presidents’ Day”, Monday, Feb 20, 2017. Veteran BFUU Social Justice Committee activist Cynthia Jean Johnson welcomed the small audience who came to Fellowship Hall on that rainy day.

The obligations of signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and the need for all nuclear countries to sign and participate, are explained in this video.
mordechai-vanunu_berkeley-celebrates-peace-symbol_vic-sadotThe gathering was fortunate to have a formidable poet like Frances L. Hillyard. Frances contributed several thought and emotion provoking poems, including poems about The Statue of Liberty; the view of a woman suffering the violence and turmoil in the city of Jenin in Palestine; a revolutionary salute to Mumia Abu Jamal; and the charming and hopeful “Dove of Light”. A separate 10 minute video of her performance has been posted!

A wonderful, inspirational, community sing-along was led by Berkeley’s beloved “Save the Post Office” organizer, Hali Hammer. The event closed with Christine Driftwood‘s implanting of a vision of possible uses of the Peace Symbol in Berkeley!

The group has protest rallies outside the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco at 3 pm on the 11th of every month since the nuclear catastrophe first happened on March 11, 2011. Since March 11, 2017 will be the 6th anniversary of the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history there should be a larger than usual turn-out. What’s more is that the emergency is an ongoing radioactive disaster that continues to contaminate land, air, and sea, and continues to threaten all living creatures that depend on these elements of nature for sustenance.

Ahmed Alomary manages to capture the beauty in the city and countryside around Jenin. But the Zionist expansion is constantly pressing into their territories with colonizers who are euphemistically called “settlers”. And the IDF is always nearby to enforce “The Law In These Parts” (An Israeli film that was screened at the annual Jewish Film Festival in Berkeley, California).

Henry Knorr at the open mic during the Q&A session on Feb 16, 2017 in Berkeley

Henry Knorr Defends Alison Weir from JVP Attacks on Voices in the Middle East on KPFA Pacifica Radio. Move the bar forward to the 38:00 minute mark to hear Henry Knorr, who is an American Jewish Bay Area activist against the 6 decade Apartheid Occupation of Palestine. He is also a member of JVP.  He calls it a “demonization campaign” against Alison Weir and IfAmericanKnew dot org. He also admires Alison for “not just talking to the choir”. He is disgusted with the secret dossier compiled on her, and how an umbrella group named The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation of Palestine was led to expel her due to the slander campaign. The real problem is that she stands against Zionism as a supremacist political ideology. He talks about her book Against Our Better Judgment about the Israel Lobby and how it is based to a large degree on academic histories by Jewish historians, thoroughly documented, “not kooky stuff” he asserts from years of study and activism on his own part. alisonweir-book-cover_alison-speaking

How to UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS!

Right here at the beginning of the Puppet Trump Administration All Trump supporters should test Trump’s loyalty to them. Let me explain how to do it. It’s called UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS! The Trumpeteers really need to demand that our Bill of Rights be restored, that all Anti-Constitutional martial law powers passed by Obama to Trump be rescinded by President Trump now! They should threaten to abandon the Trump regime and all other traitors to the Constitution of the United States. Puppet Prez Obama has passed on some draconian legal claims to Puppet Prez Trump. We should UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS!

Listen to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr!  “Obama Creates Propaganda Ministry; Now Trump Owns It” (7:21) The Ring of Fire hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
trump-obama_la-times-crop_20161110

Note Published with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. video on Jan 27, 2017: “Just before the Christmas holiday, former President Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act which provides funding for the military. Buried inside the NDAA was another bill that officially establishes an anti-propaganda center in order for the State Department to recognize, understand and expose counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining the United States. They really said that. Mike Papantonio, host of America’s Lawyer, discusses this with Richard Eskow, host of The Zero Hour.”

Similarly, all of us American citizens should exercise our inalienable rights to voice our grievance against Puppet President Obama for signing police state laws in bills that should only about monetary matters. They should not include clauses that claim Executive powers to use the U.S. military do indefinite detentions (BORDC) and executions of American citizens without any due process. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. mentions how Obama earlier, with the sweep of a pen, signed an NDAA that repealed the 1949 Smith-Mundt Act that forbade the US government to use psychological operations and propaganda on the American People. The Two War Parties need to start taking orders from the American People! Break out of the Two Party Matrix Mind Trap! UNITE FOR OUR RIGHTS! Defend EVERYONE’S RIGHTS! Or lose them… For more specific information and videos about the deliberate misuse of the annual NDAA military funding bills to claim Anti-Constitutional powers, and to join efforts with other people who are working to reject and rescind such illegal power claims, visit BORDC (The Bill of Rights Defense Committee)! I’ve studied Thomas Paine thoroughly since the 200th Anniversary of the American Revolution, aka The Bicentennial of the overthrow of monarchy and colonialism and the founding of the Republic. I wrote a ballad for him and the chorus is:

“Oh Tom Paine! If you could see us now! Oh Tom Paine! We’ll struggle on! We vow!”

The Ballad of Tom Paine by Vic Sadot – 2016 Tom Paine Courageous Spirit Awards (9:30) Video 1 of 7 in the “2016 Tom Paine Courageous Spirit Awards” playlist at “Social Justice in the Heart of Berkeley” YouTube Channel. Thomas Paine wrote “Common Sense”, “The Crisis Papers”, The Rights of Man”, “The Age of Reason”, “African Slavery in America”, and “Agrarian Justice”. The lyrics by Vic Sadot are posted in the description box as well as in the video itself. The Ballad of Tom Paine tells the life story of Thomas Paine, one of the foremost revolutionary writers of his time.

Did Michael Hasting die trying to warn you about your loss of your rights through NDAA clauses in the annual military budget bill? That’s an odd way to pass Unconstitutional “laws”! See: “Domestic Propaganda Ban to be Lifted?” (9:32) Published on May 24, 2012 at The Alyona Show on RT. “Last week, the House passed the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, which contains an amendment that would repeal the Smith-Mundt Act: a 1948 law that prevents the U.S. government from distributing propaganda at home. Alyona discusses the proposed provision with Michael Hastings, who broke the story. What is the significance of the amendment when the line between propaganda, and public relations has become increasingly blurred?” Hastings died in a bizarre car crash in California before he got to publish more exposes.

Truth Troubadour Blog on Barrie Zwicker on No Lies Radio’s False Flag Weekly News Show 8-12-16

TRUTH TROUBADOUR BLOG by Vic Sadot: News Analyst Barrie Zwicker on 8-12-16 False Flag Weekly News on No Lies Radio produced by Allan Rees

Barry-Zwicker_False-Flag-Weekly-News_8-12-16_screenshot2-vic-sadot

Hosts Kevin Barrett and “Tony” Antonius J Hall were joined by author and news media analyst Barrie Zwicker for a rapid review of the past week’s news events. The new Vice Presidential candidate of the Green Party USA, human rights activist Ajamu Baraka, was the subject of a mass media attack on him as a “holocaust denier” by virtue of his having been on this very show, “False Flag Weekly News” on No Lies Radio.

Ajamu-Barack_Jill-Stein_Green-Party-Convention-2016-nominees_express-news_920x663

Green Party Presidential nominee Jill Stein invited Ajamu Baraka to join her on the 2016 Green Party ticket as the VP candidate. The central claim or smear against Ajamu Baraka was to name him as a “holocaust denier” in a classic and unfounded “guilt-by-association” technique for having appeared on the show with a said-to-be “known holocaust denier”, host Kevin J Barrett, PhD. Every week on No Lies Radio news events are analyzed with pithy commentary and with screenshots and links given so that the viewer can look into the issues themselves. Barrie Zwicker is famous as the director of the documentary “The Great Conspiracy: The 9/11 News Special You Never Saw”, as the author of “Towers of Deception: The Media Cover-up of 9/11”, and as a well-known Canadian television personality for decades. Barrie Zwicker recently reviewed Kevin Barrett’s book on the alleged Orlando massacre event in a column at Craig McKee‘s excellent “Truth and Shadows” Blog.

The song for this blog features the video from Vic Sadot’s “Truth Troubadour” YouTube Channel called “Full Spectrum Dominance”. After a successful crowd-sourced fundraising effort at Indiegogo, Vic is now ready to release a new CD to be titled “Truth Troubadour” featuring a cover photo by Rob Sadot of Vic Sadot during a hiking trip in the East Bay hills. Here is a link to a free mp3 for “Full Spectrum Dominance” at SoundCloud by Broadside Balladeer that is a first rough mix, not the one that will be on the album.

The Debate in the Woods

“The Debate in the Woods” was between Jack Gescheidt of The Tree Spirit Project vs Bob Strayer of the Claremont Canyon Conservancy. The monitor was Bill Lazarus.

Debate-in-the-Woods-of-Claremont-Canyon_Jack-Gescheidt_Bob-Stray 012

East Bay Area Woods and Nature Preservation Activists gathered in Claremont Canyon Preserve on July 24, 2016 to hear Jack Gescheidt of The Tree Spirit Project (center) versus Bob Strayer of the Claremont Canyon Conservancy (right).

The debate was friendly and respectful. It covered numerous issues related to the plan created by UC Berkeley, City of Oakland, and the East Bay Regional Parks, and the Federal Emergency Management Authority (FEMA) to cut several hundred thousand trees, to spray herbicide to prevent re-growth, and to create grasslands instead of re-planting other trees. The Hills Conservation Network, a coalition of a number of civic groups, has filed a law suit to stop the plan. This debate was a reflection of two persons with different philosophies and understandings about the impact of the plan on the living creatures and plants, as well as the soil and the watershed of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The TreeSpirit Project is an environmental art project devoted to raising awareness of the crucial role trees and forests in our lives, both globally and also personally. The global and the personal are inextricably linked. TreeSpirit’s centerpiece is the world’s largest collection of photographs of naked, vulnerable humans communing with trees, created by Founder and photographer Jack Gescheidt with hundreds of volunteer participants.  All are tree and nature lovers who want to attract public and media attention to how much we need forests to mitigate climate change — and to touch our souls. Click on the photo below to watch a short video titled “The Forest and the Sea of Stumps”, an excellent review of the alarming plans to cut over 400,000 trees in the Bay Area Hills (7:44) Published on June 3, 2016 at Magmalavas YouTube Channel. A Film by Doug Prose; Music by Machinimasound & Joe Hartnett. Now in “The Politics of Trees & The Preservation of Natural Areas” playlist at SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE HEART OF BERKELEY YouTube Channel.

Hills Conservation Network

Stop the Deforestation of the Berkeley/Oakland Hills! UC and the City of Oakland plan to use federal disaster mitigation funds to clear-cut ALL of its tall trees in the hills. They are targeting eucalyptus, pines, and acacia for complete eradication, not because of a fire risk, but instead to clear the land for facilities expansion and to continue to allow UC to avoid spending its own money to maintain its wild land properties. They have dismissed proposed “species neutral” fire mitigation strategies that would be cheaper, would use far fewer herbicides, and would be far more effective in lessening fire risk because such strategies wouldn’t accomplish this hidden agenda. inquiries@hillsconservationnetwork.org

Click on the photo to read Dan Grassetti’s article on the cutting of these trees by UC Berkeley before the release of the environmental impact study in August 2014. The Hills Conservation Network has filed a lawsuit to stop the clear-cutting of trees under the notion that they are an “invasive species” and need to be eliminated by a chemical war on them. Dan Grassetti is the founder of the Hills Conservation Network.

The Hills Conservation Network (HCN) filed suit to prevent the funding and implementation of these projects on March 6, 2015.  Below is the press release announcing HCN’s suit.  Please contact the Hills Conservation Network if you wish to contribute to the cost of this suit:    http://www.hillsconservationnetwork.org/HillsConservation3/Blog/Blog.html

Eucalyptus-Stand_UC-Berkeley_7-18-15_Tree-Spirit-Project

Ordinary, extraordinary people, all volunteers, from all walks of life,  bare themselves to boldly, playfully, feel connected again: to trees, to others, to themselves. In this case, the people gathered to defend a stand of Eucalyptus trees on the UC Berkeley campus. Click on the photo above to watch a video in which Jack Gescheidt explains the philosophy and strategy of the artistic activism of The Tree Spirit Project, a celebration of our interdependence with nature.
